The 9th Annual Technical Conference of the SAMPE UK and Ireland chapter will be held on 24th February, 2009 at the Totworth Court Three Pillars Hotel, Bristol.

It is well-known that lightweight materials offer benefits in terms of fuel efficiency and hence CO2 emissions in transport, energy generation and construction applications. Hence they offer a vital contribution to sustainable development – high performance composites offer a direct route to reducing our carbon footprint. This one day event will focus on environmental issues and solutions offered by lightweight composite materials. Invited presentations will cover a variety of issues including fuel efficient solutions in transportation, life cycle analysis, renewable energy solutions, recycling and re-use. This broad overview will allow delegates to benefit from the experience of experts from a number of sectors, offering a unique networking opportunity for environmentally aware engineers.
